Selection Criteria

Purpose

Project Starters Online supports the curriculum and research needs of students and staff at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in the United Arab Emirates.

The following criteria is used when adding links:

• Relevancy to the HCT curriculum
  Website supports or reflects the needs of the HCT curriculum.
  
  
• Appropriateness for the United Arab Emirates
  Website is consistent with the religious, cultural, political and moral values of the United Arab Emirates.
  
  
• Reading Level
  Content matches the reading level of HCT students.
  
  
• Authority
  • Website clearly identifies the author/coporate author.
  • Author/coporate author is a credible and reliable source.
    
    
• Quality
  • Content is accurate and well organized.
    
    
• Currency (Dependent on the topic)
  Information is current, or the last update is included on the site.
  
  
• Objectivity
  • If applicable, website should be free of bias.
  • If applicable, website identifies commercial and non-commercial organizations that have provided funding or services to the site.
    
    
• Access and Reliability
  • Website is consistently available.
  • Website is easy to use.

The following criteria is used for excluding, or removing links:

• Websites that are inaccurate, misleading, intolerant, irresponsible, or unethical.
  
• Websites that promote products or services that are likely to be unhealthy.
• Websites that link or advertise inappropriate content.
